External Advisory Board

The External Advisory Board (EAB) is a group of twelve distinguished International experts contributing to the project in a constructive critique of the research development.

     
 

The External Advisory Board members are intended :

-  to bring a broader view to the project development in considering a larger International scope and point of view for the project, impose an actual multidisciplinary approach, and provide better references and experiences carried out successfully or unsuccessfully;
-  to assure the Commission of the quality of the work done and that the outputs are in compliance with the results announced by the PICTURE project;
-  to constitute a first step towards the creation of a genuine European Research Area in the domain of cultural tourism within European cities;
-  to help promoting the main outcome in their personal sphere of influence;
-  to control that the actual "end-user" will be adequately taken into consideration.

Professor, INRECON-The Scientific and Design Institute on Reconstruction of Historic Towns.

Jean-Pierre Lambot (Belgium)
Director in Chief of the Tourism Commissariat, Direction of Economy and Employment, Belgian French-speaking Community (represented by Mme Rousseau-Rochet).

I- Electronic consultation of the External Advisory Board

The aim of this consultation will be to obtain rapid feed-back from the experts of the External Advisory Board prior to any major involvement in the research tasks that may eventually affect the rest of the work. It will be based on an electronic meeting dealing with the format of the strategic urban governance framework for cultural tourism. This consultation is expected to take place by the end of January 2005.

II- First meeting of the External Advisory Board

The Mid-term Assessment Meeting is conceived as part of the risk management procedure. The purpose of this meeting will be to report on the progress to date and to redefine (if necessary) the work plan for the remaining part of the contract. It will be based on oral presentation of intermediate results to the External Advisory Board. The structure of the strategic urban governance framework for cultural tourism will be outlined, discussed and approved after possible amendments. This meeting will take place in Brussels on the 5th of July 2005.

III- Final Advisory Meeting

Presentation of the preliminary version of the strategic urban governance framework for cultural tourism to the External Advisory Board for feed-back regarding methodology and content. This presentation will check that the proposed prototype fulfils the end-users requirements. This meeting is expected to take place September 20, 2006.

IV- Electronic consultation of the External Advisory Board

last update: 19th August 2004

The External Advisory Board will again be contacted at the very end of the research, in order to organise the future exploitation and implementation of the research work. This consultation is expected to take place in January 2007.
