This volume examines the itineraries of the route in Piemonte and Val d’Aosta. The Via Francigena went towards the two Pas the most crossed in the Middle Age: the Gran San Bernardo and the Moncenisio.

Starting from Vercelli, four itineraries are presented and they propose the probable tracks of the “Route of France and invite the tourist to notice the multiple testimonies: churches, places where pilgrims found hospitality, castles which controlled the crossing, bridges, crosses along the itineraries and any other kind of elements along the route.

A series of topographic maps help the tourist , to allow the individuation of what existed in the past along the route. At the end, it is proposed a short trip in medieval typical food of these territories.
