The place of the Via Francigena for those whom it was obligatory to pass on foot the Po, in finding themselves again in the territories of Piacenza and Parma, is still today one of the most characteristic passages and has been recognized since 1994, together with the entire road, as a European Cultural Route for its particular historical-artictic richness, which, in an unexpected way is scattered over every corner of the route.

This continual religious pilgrimage has given life to an exceptional architectural heritage. The historical-artistic heritage of the provinces of Parma and Piacenza is extremely varied and it is possible, thanks to this panorama, to travel again each age.
