The Fourvière hill is the site of the roman colony and a fantastic observatory of development of where the city is initially began.
Decend then to the first heights, the reader is lively in the richness and the diversity of the Presqu'ile, before landing on the slopes, then the plateau of the Croix-Rousse where the silk weavers create, for their mediocre salary, splendid silk fabrics, of gold and of money. Crossing the Rhone, one reaches the ancient open quarter of Guillotière on the way to, around two universities, the latin quarter of the town and the aristocratic Brotteaux, found next to the famous park, the Tete-d'Or.
Beyond the spread of the suburbs are the rural spaces very much visited by the majority of Lyonnais people, but only a part of them know the Beaujolais region, like they know the whole of the world.
To the right: The banks of the Rhône, an pleasant circuit on which one can walk or bicycle, for about 9 kilometres. To leave the Gerland Park banks, one guides oneself towards the south, near to the confluence between the Rhône and the Saône. Then one sets off again towards the north , following the entire of this river to the left. Gerland, the universities, the prefecture, the Brotteaux and the International city. The journey houses an exceptional view of the Presqu'ile de Lyon. |
