The events are organised in cooperation with the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities “Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion” and the Dosta! campaign against discrimination on 30-31 October 2013. They will take place at the Villa Méditerranée, a prestigious new location in the center of Marseille. A public debate in the evening of 30 October will be held with the participation of Fanny Ardant, a prominent French actress and personality, the Council of Europe’s ambassador for Roma, the showing of an exhibition called “Dosta!” (Stop! [discrimination]) and the opening of an exhibition of quilts made by Roma women at the Italian Cultural Institute in Marseilles on 31 October at the close of the conference.

The group of events is brought together under the title “The European Dimension of Roma Culture”.

On Wednesday October 30 (10am-4pm) a restricted seminar on “Cultural Routes and Roma Culture” will seek to:
- examine the Route of Roma Culture project 2010-2012, its action and results, with a panel of partners;
- discuss how to ensure sustainable transnational partnerships and networks for the promotion of Roma culture and history;
- explore the possibilities of relaunching the Roma cultural route as well as possible frameworks for cooperation.

Participants will include representatives of institutions (museums, cultural institutes), the partners of the Roma Route project, and other interested and specialized bodies. Penelope Denu and Eleonora Berti will speak on behalf of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes programme and the European Institute of Cultural Routes.
Marseille-Provence Cultural Capital welcome you and we would be glad to meet you at the conference and its accompanying cultural events on 30-31 October 2013.
