21 April 2006

This encounter which was organised in the meeting room of Romanian Ministry of Culture and Cults by the Consultancy Centre for European Cultural Programmes, was backed and partly funded by the Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes, in the frame of the Romanian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The methodological introduction of the programme was given by representatives of the Ministry (Virgil Nitulescu, Secretary of State for Cultural Heritage, Delia Mucica, Secretary General), of the Council of Europe (Françoise Tondre) and of the European Institute (Michel Thomas-Penette), but also by the representatives of the main associations represented in the management and the development of the European Jewish Heritage Routes (Claude Bloch, Assumpcio Hosta and Mariano Schlimovich).

On the Romanian side, Harry Culler (expert), representatives of the State Jewish Theatre, Ioan Holban Director of theatre Vasile Alecsandri of Iasi and Speranta Radulescu were in charge of giving complementary historical accounts on an immaterial heritage, and Dan Matei suggested some directions for a website information. The Meeting was ended by a prejection of films presented by Radu Gabrea.

You'll find in link the programme and the introductive document as well as the Action Plan.

In his conclusions, Vladimir Simon presented the main lines of this Action Plan for which the Institute will propose help especially as regards the integration of this essential approach of a form of heritage which will enlarge the concept of the Jewish Heritage Route and in a wider context which will complement the series of routes devoted to Jewish Culture from the Sefardi's Culture to migrations at large.

A meeting of all the operators responsible of the developments of all these actions is scheduled on 19th September 2006 in order to create synergies between operators in this field as regards geographical aspects as well as movements of populations in Europe's history.
