Keystone of the French hegemony of the XVII century, Vauban speaks of Luxembourg, at the time of its siege, as one of the "the most powerful fortified place in Europe".

Today, the spirit of Vauban still hangs over this city.

Four kilometers long, the Vauban Cultural Route, developed by the National Service for Sites and Monuments, invites visitors to discover the destiny of a country through European geopolitics.

Comprising fifteen elements of interest, the route offers examples of the great architectural, scientific and technical movements which typify European thinking of the seventeenth century.

The Vauban Cultural Route is a project of the Ministry of Culture, set up by the National Service of Sites and Monuments within in the framework of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
