Europe House Dubrovnik, beside publishing a multilingual book entitled “Roland’s European Pathsâ€?, launches a series of related activities such as sponsoring a series of Sicilian puppet plays on Roland’s life, a video archive, banners with photos of the existing Roland statues, as well as, a painting competition targeting the youth with the cooperation of the Art School Luka SorkoÄ?ević from Dubrovnik. All participating students dedicate their painting to Roland, seen as the city freedom symbol.
The Croatian efforts behind this ever expanding initiative allude to the logical need of Croatia entering the European Union thus Dubrovnik statue of Roland joining its`brothers’.
Remark: Roland is known as Orlando in Croatia and Italy. |
