International selection: the festival offers an overview of contemporary cinema through its international competition of 15 features and some 20 short films (fiction movies and documentaries) and prestigious premieres, all presented by their directors.
Guests of honour: Year after year, the festival honours outstanding personalities from the international film industry, in their presence. Since the first edition of the festival, the audience has had the opportunity to enjoy comprehensive film retrospectives dedicated to legendary filmmakers like Aki Kaurismäki, Michael Cimino, Oliver Stone or Francesco Rosi, in their presence, and major actors like Jeanne Moreau, Nathalie Baye, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jackie Chan, Javier Bardem or Sandrine Bonnaire...
Country of honour: After Brazil, Korea, Lebanon and the Philippines last year, the 2009 edition will once again introduce the audience to the best of contemporary foreign cinema. The country of honour this year will be Turkey.
Special events: In addition to film screenings in theatres, the festival will continue to feature novelty events in a spirit of openness and conviviality: free events, screenings under the stars, special nights, films accompanied by live music, programs for young audiences, etc.
Paris Project (for professionals only): for its 7th edition, the Paris Cinema IFF invites professionals from all over the world to take part in the Paris Project co-production platform. An opportunity to discover and support a selection of foreign film projects looking for French and European financing, through meetings, screenings, conferences and practical workshops.
