In 1929, Radio Luxembourg was created. In 1996 the Compagnie luxembourgeoise de télédiffusion (CLT) named it RTL (Radio Télévision Luxembourg). Afterwards RTL will refer to the Radio and TV channels of the CLT group.

In 2000, the CLT-UFA (media group of Bertelsmann AG and the Brussels Lambert Group) merged with the British group Pearson TV and became the RTL-Group. Since then, the RTL-Group became the distributor number one in Europe for TV and Radio.

The CLT-UFA is present under the name of RTL in 12 countries with 22 TV channels and 22 Radio Channels. The company take also interests to the production and the acquisition of audio-visual rights.
