Each festival has a clear concept and touches on national and international historical themes that relate to this year's general themes. For 2011’s festival, there are some historical events that provoke debates on important subjects, which can be brought to the attention of specialists, film buffs and to the general public:
- 800 years since the arrival of the Teutonic Knights in the Burzenland (1211);
- 10 years since the terrorist attacks in the United States (11 september 2001);
- 20 years since the fall of the Soviet Union (1991);
- 50 years since the beginning of the construction of the Berlin Wall (13 august 1961);
- a general theme linked to migration and settlements;
- dedications to the actor Ştefan Iordache, the young filmmaker Nicholas Dimancescu and to the 90th anniversary of King Mihai.
The European Institute of Cultural Routes has been one of the festival's partners, along with the Râsnov City Hall, since its first edition. During the last two years, the European Institute of Cultural Routes and its Resources Center in Sibiu, has been sustaining and promoting all the artistic activities of the festival.
In 2010, the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg was a "special guest" of the festival, in order to emphasise the close cultural relations established between Romania and Luxembourg. |
