Religious Tourism in Hungary and in the European Union

Conference in Esztergom, Hungary
european institute of cultural routes
Sorina Capp
12 September 2011

The European Institute of Cultural Routes participated in the conference on religious tourism in Hungary and the European Union, in the framework of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On this occasion, several cultural routes of pilgrimage, who have the Council of Europe certification, were presented, as well as local, regional and national initiatives for promoting, conserving and transmitting religious heritage.

The European Institute of Cultural Routes presented its activities in coordinating the cultural routes of the Council of Europe, of informing and training actors involved in the functioning of a cultural route, as well as the work it does with routes already chosen by the Council of Europe, or in the selection process.

A brief presentation was also made to promote the new Enlarged Partial Agreement of the Council of Europe on cultural routes, which came into force in 2011.
