It was on the 7th July 2008 that the network of major Vauban sites obtained was accepted into the World Heritage list.
Two years later, more than 150 people from all walks (site managers, architects, city planners, universities…) met at the Ecole nationale supérieure of Architecture of Paris-Belleville, at the invitation of its director, Jean-Pierre Bobenriether and the president of the Vauban network, Jean-Louis Fousseret.
Coorganised by the Ecole and the Vauban network, marking the partnership which links the 2 institutions, this day has been dedicated to a symposium on the theme of “fortified sites and territory projects.
Through the testimonies of the dozen elected, architects, city planners and landscapers have different factors to reply about which have been made on contemporary perceptions on fortified sites and how to integrate them for future projects. So many questions have been initiated via numerous discussions with the Assembly. This workshop was done by Dominique Perrault and Phillipe Prost, architects and city planners, in a dialogues on the concept of walls.
Finally, the evening was devoted to the official opening of the Resource Centre for Heritage Management fortified by the Vauban Network, developed with the support of Enterprise-Bouygues, France, Europe. It is therefore natural that Jean-Louis Fousseret, President of Network Vauban left the honor of the first 'click' on the Internet platform to Philippe Bonnave, Group Chief Executive.
This resource center provides all different practical tools, inventories and databases as well as several participatory platforms. |
