 The winners of the Prize Sharing citizen: April 13, 2010
Here are the winners of the Sharing citizen Under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg.

The European Institute of Cultural Routes, the Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster and the Saint Martin of Tours European Cultural Centre have the honour of announcing the results of the Panel of judges’ meeting which took place yesterday, 13th April, at the Abbey of Neumünster.


In the presence of the Panel members, named below,

- Claudine BECHET-METZ, President of the association Cultur’all of Luxembourg.
- Jacqueline COSTA –LASCOUX, Director of Research at CNRS (integration, discrimination, securalism, citizenship) – Cévipof (Centre for the study of French policical life).
- Driss ELYAZAMI, Managing Director of Génériques.
- Mechthilde FUHRER, person in charge of the cultural routes programme of the Council of Europe.
- Laura LEOTOING, National Leader of the Network European Youth Parliament - France
- Marc LIMPACH, Foundation Secretary Thierry Van Werveke.
- Jean-Louis OLIVER, General Secretary of l'Académie de l'Eau (Water Academy).
- Laurent PROBST, International Consultant Price Waterhouse Cooper.
- Raymond WEBER, former Managing Director of Education Culture and sport of the Council of Europe and former Director of Lux-Développement. (Panel President)

The winners of the Prize Sharing Citizen for the following actions have been announced:

Youth (actions carried out by young people)
Prize : Evening classes by Babar Ali
The panel of judges is pleased to announce that Mr. Babar Ali’s evening classes won the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, “Youth�.

Being very appreciative of this innovative project in a difficult socio-economic context, the panel put great emphasis on this concept of shared education, demonstrating the coeducation of boys and girls. A youth initiative, it could be a source of inspiration to make the right to education more present and effective.

New technologies
Prize : Playing For change, Whitney Kroenke
The panel of judges is pleased to announce that “Playing for change� has won the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, “New Technologies�.
Technology for Culture. The panel salutes the quality of good citizenship and the ethic of intercultural exchange through the medium of music which are demonstrated in this action.

Panel’s Special Mention : Adjustable focus glasses, Joshua Silver
The panel decided to allocate the “Prize Sharing Citizen Panel of Judges’ Special Mention� to encourage and highlight this action.

The Environment
Prize : Bundy on tap, Kingston Huw
The panel is pleased to announce that “Bundy on tap� has received the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, “the Environment�.

The panel wanted to highlight this practical project, which has created a social and regional link and picked up on a real environmental challenge.

Panel’s Special Mention : Climate parties, Tomas Walsh
The panel wanted to highlight this practical project, which has created a social and regional link and picked up on a real environmental challenge.
This project enables an ideal context to be set up “in which to reflect on what we can do as individuals to create a new group awareness�.


Culture
Prize : L’âge du temps, Intemporelle association, Christophe Lhuillier
The panel awards the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, “Culture�, to the action, “l’Age du Temps�. A marvellous idea in support of a participative culture. An action which concerns a real social problem: the need for solidarity between generations and to reunite themby means of shared artistic emotions.
The concept of collective cultural creation was welcomed by the panel members.

Panel’s Special Mention : Orchestra piazza di vittorio, Mario Tronco
The panel decided to allocate the “Prize Sharing Citizen Panel of Judges’ Special Mention� to encourage and highlight this action.

Here, it would like to acknowledge an extraordinary multiethnic mix of histories, humanity and music.

Social Issues
Prize : Groupe SOS, Jean Marc Borello
The panel awards the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, « Social Issues », to the action, « Groupe SOS ». This action is rewarded for an alternative social model placing entrepreneurship at the service of social innovation. It proposes an alternative and entrepreneurial model in which profit is not the sole aim and hopes to make social innovation as important as technological innovation.

Economy
Prize : SELCO, Harish Hande
The panel awards the Prize Sharing Citizen in the category, “Economy�, to the action, “Selco�. The panel applauds this action which promotes access to an essential resource and a real research study on energy and on the contribution of energy for man. Easily transferable, it aims at public interest, in particular for people excluded from the usual distribution circuits.

We extend our sincere congratulations to the winners of this first round, who will be invited to become Panel members for the Prize Sharing Citizen 2011.

Nominations for the Prize Sharing Citizen 2011 will open on the following websites : www.culture-routes.lu, www.saintmartindetours.eu, et www.ccrn.lu from 4th July 2010.
