Growing itinerary

As Cristina Yanez writes: "We have grown a little bit since I came in Luxemburg. Now we have four Basque partners: two of them are Diputaciones –public administration-,with two wonderful ferrerías “forges and two of the are private. One of them is the Lenbur Foundation with many interesting preindustrial and industrial sites of interest, already organized in routes. The second private partner is the “Hanging Bridge of Bizkaia that now initiates their candidature for the UNESCO to become World Heritage in 2006.

On the French part we keep on working with our colleagues from the Ariège and from Aquitanie. On the Catalane side we keep on working with Eusebio Casanelles and the Ripoll’s forge, and we have a new partner: the Charcoal Mines of Cercs. We have the intention (we have already contacted them) to have Navarra participating of this transfrontalier route.

With this project , besides creating a network of persons and institutions we are creating a cultural touristic product, in this occasions we have incorporate to our team, four experts in cultural tourism representing Andorra (2), Catalonia and Ariège. We intend in the future to have some one from the Basques country.

Follow-up

In order to get the same information from every point of interest, all partners are working now in a model form for each site of interest (une fiche modele, similar to the one in my master thesis, see link). The goals is first of all having every partner deciding which are going to be the principal sites of interest for this route in their respective territories. Second of all, to have some touristic information on every site. Third step, to get a cartography of all the points, which is something absolutely basic.

All this information will help us building the final route and we plan to hang it up in the Forge Rossell’s website. So…everything is in progress now! This are grosso modo the main conclusions.

Documentation

We will receive soon a set of documents which will add new ideas to those which we received during the first phases of the work.

This is realy a splendid proposal which takes place as a true model of methodology in the new great theme integrated recently by the Council of Europe: "European Routes of Industrial Heritage".

A scientific meeting will take place in the frame of the Spring of the itineraries in order to harmonise the various proposals.

You'll find in link various documents linked to the meeting, but also a survey on the Forge d’ Arthez d’ Asson et le Fer du Béarn.
