Post Subject: European citizenship

The European Institute of Cultural Routes prepared in 2000 the introduction to a seminar on "The cultural values of European citizenship". This text seems useful for the round table on "Europe of sharing".

Post Subject: Re Levels of sharing

Thank you for your intervention, it is opening a very interesting debate. The brainstorming commission was really gripping. You can download the contributor’s speeches ( if it’s not already done). The conclusions will be evocated at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the treaty of Rome. Furthermore, the debates have been integrally recorded so you can eventually find it soon on our web site. I hope to see you soon on our forum again. Best regards, Manon.

Post Subject: Levels of sharing

Good day to every body: My name is Aurelio Giordano, I am in Italy and serve as chairman of the Centro Italiano di Studi sulle Migrazioni Umane (CISMU) and chairman of the Annual Convention on Human Migration (this year the 20th), both in Costiera Amalfitana, Italy. First of all thank you Fanny Egretaud for pushing me to join the forum, I understood there was already an on going debate. So, being myself the first one keeping in touch after Manon’s message number one: the list of participants, and message number two: the theme, I just would send some words of mine to start talking with you all the convened. I believe we have many levels of sharing to stay together, for example I am together with other institutions and organizations in Europe whose field of interest concern European migration in the past and in the present have joined together to establish the Association of European Migration Institutions, also known by the abbreviation AEMI. At organizations level it takes to share in the sense of the first part you quote inviting us to partake the forum “Sharing means a material and moral enrichment of all by the pooling (form a pool of people) of every one's contribution [...]… this is why, for example I have in our Emeroteca (in our Country this word means Library of Journals) the publications of the Slovene and of the Finnish institutes of migration. We have people visiting our center who study the way Slovene and Finnish work on the same matter we go on leading us into the second part of your quotation “… sharing is a way of learning how to live together differently". In consideration of the 10 years passed it may seem that a couple of organizations interested in staying visible in our Emeroteca is not too much, but that’s not as non profit organizations have usually a few voluntary collaborators or none and keeping in touch regularly updating and sending items by mail and so forth is really a great effort. It would take one more effort to have the editorial production of all the institutions and organizations in each of the same institutions and organizations. This level of sharing must be organized in the same way the ordinary libraries do, with same standard of record format and compatible software. It is not futurist, it just takes an agreement opened to all the institutions and organizations, not only the ones in the same organization I belong to. For example, staying on the line we are open to have all the production of this brainstorm at The European Cultural Centre Saint Martin of Tours to be available to the circulation over here. . I am available talking on this side of sharing with interested others as thisone may be connected with all the reflection issues mentioned in the invitation: Philosophic and ethical bases of sharing, Priorities of sharing, Sharing and solidarity, Sharing and resources, A Europe of Sharing. Aurelio Giordano

Post Subject: Level share agreement

Thanks a lot for the feed-back saying “… it is opening a very interesting debate as much as to make the commission grip over there. So going ahead it would take to “enforce/implement the points (of view) we agree upon among the circulating ones to achieve a common “share and level. By this setting it was provided here an introductory survey on the publications between us, the organizations, and secondly was proposed to put into effect “… an agreement opened to all the institutions and organizations… to “… have the editorial production of all the institutions and organizations in each of … themselves using “… the same standard of record format and compatible software… etc. I believe that the agreement would include that each organization must arrange its own production of publications in the better shape as it better could represent the organization itself inside the hosting organization. It would be not an overacting even asking the classified position of the “production in the hosting library or emeroteca. Here in Costiera Amalfitana at the Centro Italiano di Studi sulle Migrazioni Umane we do it successfully, for example, the specialized Library inside Ellis Island (aside the Statue of Liberty in New York) has got our publications by going through the same procedure: we first accurately binded our publications for the occasion and sent, secondly we went afterwards over there to have knowledge of it: you can figure how it made us able to give better informations to the people in New York area interested to our publications. To this regard when, for example and if you permit, you say “download the contributor’s speeches ( if it’s not already done) and by this statement I may only peek the forum themes by myself trying to cath all the interventions found day by day hoping I do not miss any of those. Secondly I have to print them out and arrange a sort of collection/documentation by my capability of doing it properly following only what I understood of it, not else. Working together on the agreement to share and suppose we want altogether “…each organization must arrange its own production of publications in the better shape to better represent the organization itself inside the shelves/rooms of the hosting organization … we here in Costiera Amalfitana will miss nothing of the “brainstorm being the intended size you please: printed book, electronic issue, magazine, etc. which better satisfy the interested visitors will go by our center here. No problem -anyway- as we do not have an agreement yet, so it is only by my opinion that this way leads to a better documentation, for example, about the brainstorm in this case, and about all kinds of “productions in all the other cases to come: publications and whatelse. Hoping this may be of interest, not only a bore. Aurelio Giordano
